Graffiti, by nature, is a very controversial subject as it represents a type of art which is mostly unauthorized and one that is in contrast to traditional forms of artwork. The ever growing street culture and graffiti are mostly provocative, appealing, bold and audacious. A concept that was originally used by gangsters to stamp their authority on a specific urban area, graffiti is now also used by graphic designers and creative artists to showcase their artwork. Over the years, graffiti designers have introduced various forms of street graffiti such as light graffiti, subway graffiti, chalk drawing graffiti, graffiti illusions and many more. Talented graffiti designers such as Bansky, Fred Brathwaite, Dan Witz and David Choe have been employing the miracles of urban graffiti culture to portray issues on politics, humor and culture. However, the most alluring of all is the extent of illusion that a graffiti designer can create in the artwork. Therefore, today my post focuses on Street Graffiti Illusions, one of the most remarkable forms of street graffiti that is prevalent in the world. Take a look at 35 of the most astonishing works of street graffiti that demonstrate the illusion effect.

Be controversial or not, it graffiti definitely creates masterpieces. So, I think street graffiti could be permitted but with certain norms kept in place. Also, it would add more vibrance to our surroundings.
-
You are absolutely right. This provide a wonderful inspiration to me. Thanks a lot for sharing….
-
amazing.. they play the perspective and make a incredible art..
-
this looks shopped. i can tell from some of teh pixels.
-
Nice selection ! Thanks for this post !
:)
-
Sorry, but it’s not graffiti. It’s art maybee. Grafitti is painting letters on a wall…
-
yes, because images on a screen aren’t made of pixels…
-
These are not ’shopped. Well, some might be, I suppose, but I have seen video of the guy that does that hyper-realistic ones. They’re real drawings, and only can be viewed from one particular spot for them to appear with the proper perspective.
I agree that “street art” should be legal in some cases… but keep in mind, most peoples’ graffiti involves spray paint, which is slightly (a lot) more permanent than chalk, which most of these are drawn with. I can understand why people don’t want random stuff painted on their personal (or corporate) property.
-
I love these strange perpective images. Who cares about some of the quality
-
Many of these were done by Julien Beever – you can check out his site at http://users.skynet.be/J.Beever/ – truly a master of perspective.

Thanks for the article. Interesting!
-
Its Great. I like it and i have no word for it because its a great art.
-
I think graffiti is one of the most important modern city art. it make the city more colourful and lovely…
-
I’m not sure this really is graffiti? In my eyes this is art. I appreciate there is a fine line but the sort of graffiti we fight against is unrequited vandalism not pre commissioned “street art” pieces like these. Whatever your view I’m sure we all agree they are amazing.

Wow…What a great design available here.I would like to say this is the design which looks real drawing. We can view from a single spot to appear with the proper perspective.
-
These are amazing, i saw some in Dublin..They look even better in real life.
-
They look great….. I’ve never seen one in real life, that’s why I wish almost all of the images that are presented weren’t distorted to make them look even better. That ’s what sort of kills the whole point doesn’t it? Some interesting lens action going on.
And on the legal issue ……art is art and can never be “ilegal”, but respect for the laws that make private, and public property is essential.

That’s awesome. I am working on something for my graphic design office.
-
Fantastic, Marvelous are the words to use for this world class illusions. I like the basketball and bicycle theme very much.
-
This is the most extensive collection I’ve seen so far. Pretty impressive.
Also, wanted to add to your story, that graffiti started as gangster marking the territory on the West Coast only. In New York City, writing your name on trains doesnt state your territory , cause trains run through all five boroughs. It was rather a delivery of your name city-wise, nothing gangster about it, more like a gallery for your art later.
-
It is extraordinary design with imaginative job done too. I really appreciated for inspirational source. Thanks for sharing valuable gift.
-
I wanted to point out that many of these pieces really fall into the category of being trompe l’oeil or “fool the eye” works, more so than they do graffiti, not to say these aren’t great works or inspirational, which they certainly are, just categorized slightly wrong, for graffiti you could check my personal favorite graffiti artist “Daim” at http://www.daimgallery.com.

This is simply fantastic. If street art is not legal it should be made legal right now. This is art in its highest for, very engaging, challenging people’s perspective.
