22 Heartbreaking Photojournalism Pictures – Bleeding for Peace!

In all my previous photography posts, I’ve always tried to bring creative and beautiful compilations for you guys. However, today I have collected some “not-so-pleasing” shots but definitely food for thought.

You would have surely heard of the term “Photojournalism”….a form of news reporting where images are used to tell the entire news story. This type of journalism has rapidly gained prominence since violence and aggression has risen all over the world. Terror attacks, suicide bombings, war in Afghanistan and Iraq, protests and revolt in Egypt….these all are the grueling moments that are happening around us. Therefore, to keep the general public aware, journalists capture these grim realities of life in their cameras and release them over internet.

Lately, I came across some of the most heartbreaking and disturbing pictures of photojournalism and thought of sharing them with my readers. I think it’s high time we all realise that… “Peace can never be achieved through war”. Peace is not about fighting for vengeance. It is a process of removing anger and hatred amongst ourselves. Always remember:

 “The more we sweat in peace the less we bleed in war. “

    These types of photographs definitely elicit strong emotions. Each photo shows what is real. The current state of humanity is not at its best, and though we hope for peace, we know how hard it is to actually see it become real. Especially found Chains of freedom and Height of poverty images troubling.

    The Abandoned Child is the most horrific one. I couldn’t imagine going through that. That’s we need to be grateful for what we have and remember change stats with ourselves.

    Photojournalism has been around for a long time. It just took time for photos to get back, developed and then published. Photojournalism got it’s first real leap into real-time public awareness during the Vietnam war when photographers were embedded in the US military units (first time ever). The pulitzer winning photo, published as the cover of time magazine, will be instantly recognized by everyone.

    Photos can explain politics in an incredibly ephemeral manner. It’s sad and at the same time provides awareness to so many areas.

    Yes, these pictures put us to un-ease, because they confront us with the dark side of human beings. This dark side is and always has been a part of us. Saying things like “…since violence and aggression has risen all over the world” and “we are not human beings anymore” is just outright wrong. A bit of a look into history will show you that things have actually gotten better over time and they still do. Violence is very much part of us because it is part of the choices we have. The dark side will always be there as an option for human beings, and it will be chosen as long as it is easier to survive or to make money with it than with a peaceful choice. So I do much more agree with what you say in the end: It is a PROCESS of removing anger and hatred amongst ourselves. It is actually a process of learning how to share, overcome greed, overcome fear, jealousy, hatred etc - shall we just call it life?

    Its a great collection. I would like to say its speechless and heart breaking photography. some photo like “The abandoned child”, “Tears of War” are so sad and photo like “Jesus told me where to bomb” is funny.

    A saw 9/11 from my own windows…
    The most terrible was to see the smoke coming out of Ground Zero every day for almost 2 months after 9/11…

    How can the photographer just stand there taking pictures of a little child on the ground?
    Go pick him/her up, before someone steps on the poor thing.

    this is humanity at its worst.
    we are all to blame for these atrocities, through action or inaction.

    the international market society was doomed to fail from the beginning.

    This affected me greatly. These pictures have opened my eyes toward the poverty and despair in third-world countries like the ones illustrated above. The abandoned child even brought tears to my eyes, just thinking what it must be like, what it is to go through things like that. Even though they happen everyday, these few pictures have finally made me realize what true hunger, pain, and suffering is. We in live in luxury compared to these people, and we regard to it as “not our problem”. These people deserve to live with the same quality of life that we have, no less.

    i just questioning myself n u that where the HELL v r living….wen v turn on T.V… r else reading the NEWSPAPER every time we see these incidents………which r stunning..n heartbreaking… i dono who is gonna help them….coz there r some millions of people all over the time …for every 10 sec dyin in hunger untill now….no one take care of them…..by readin this ur single drop of tear can’t bring the change out there…..until u do something…..b’coz u know wat to do.

    i cannot believe that ‘abandoned child’ i really hope the photographer went and picked the child up and took him under his wing or hers, if not i am disgusted. and of somebody of 12 years to be saying this is absolutely unbelievable!!! and are these pics real or are they set up>???

    after going through ur pictures i asked my self wat i m doing as human being…. are we that helpless not to stand against it…. who r doing this r humans only right then y r v not able to stop it… how many life’s how many feeling still have to go through it… we are the reason for all this bcoz we r busy with our life n who cares wat happens at home next door …? we just feel happy that it did nt happen to us…. but v should nt forget we might be the next…. stand for it now or we might never get 2nd chance….

    Photojournalism tells the simplest of truths in the most powerful of ways. It’s impossible to not take these lessons to heart. But when are we going to? This is a reality that should not exist anywhere for anyone! Thanks for giving us this chance to really think.

    The abandoned child - the photograph is taking by - this is not the actual name - it is a rituals happened i India - West Bengal state .. The name of the Photograph what i have given is RELIGIOUS FAITH …

    You can find the same Pict in my website . If possible please change the TITLE .
