Being a Female, What is your Clothing Style?

Photography is truly an art in itself. Learning the art is one thing, but to execute it perfectly is another whole dimension. As technology progresses, newer and better photography equipments are invented. This growing technological advancement has given way to different types of photography like panning, hi-speed, long-exposure, macro and even wave photography.

But today, I would like to introduce yet another amazing technique of photography to my readers that goes by the name “Visual Confusion Photography”. This trick is an interesting illusion that confuses our eyes to believe something which is actually not true. Confused??? Let me explain…different people in the pictures below are positioned and captured in such different ways, which are impossible to do in real life. Actually, most of the pictures are faked through Adobe Photoshop, but the following images are truly NOT photoshopped. I myself was amazed when I found out the trick behind these images.

Anyhow, to further clarify your confusion, you have to “CLICK” every image and enjoy the actual positioning of people in these pictures. You will be surely amazed on viewing the real shots. Time to see for yourself ;)

1. Floating in the air?

At a first glance, it may seem as if the 2 boys are hanging from top, while the whole scenery looks upright and relatively normal. But now when the same image is rotated 180˚, you will see the actual picture that the boys are simply lying on a ledge near the river. Surprised?

2. Sitting or Hanging?

Anyone at first sight would believe that there is nothing peculiar about this photo and the man is simply sitting at the edge of a building. But the reality is tilted. When you rotate the picture 90˚ counter clock-wise, that is what the real picture is. You will that the man is hanging firmly from the edge of a wall.

3. On the Wall?

The perspective of the girl and the guy confuse us as to what is the right position. You must have thought the guy is sitting on the wall while the girl is lying on the wall. Now see the picture when it is rotated clockwise…the girl is simply leaning on the wall while the guy is on his back with his feet on the wall.

4. On the Bench or the Ground?

Another normal image you think? It’s just a guy sitting on a bench right? Wrong! The real picture is when it is rotated 90˚ counter clock-wise…the guy is actually lying on the road with his feet on the wall as if he were sitting on it.

5. On the Roof or Stairs?

This is another great example of visual confusion photography. You’re thinking he’s lying on a zigzag roof right? Wrong again…the image is simply upside down. When this picture is flipped 180˚, you will see that the guy is simply lying on the stairs of an empty arena.

6. Is he really Spiderman?

Are you thinking he is Spiderman to do a stunt like that? Well, for one, he doesn’t look like Tobey Maguire to me. Neither was he bitten by a spider. This image was simply taken from above and rotated enough to create an illusion that he is hanging from the wall like a spider.

7. Peeking from the train?

Some of you may think that this image is photoshopped. Well I’m afraid it’s not. The image was really taken from a moving train, but it is just rotated. When you re-rotate the image counter clockwise, you will see that the guy is peeking out from the window of the train.

8. Walking on the sky?

This is another yet another brilliant example of visual confusion photography. This is not a Photoshop manipulation and neither an illusion. What you see as men walking on the sky is just a reflection from the ricer stream running by. The image is flipped 180˚ to reveal the real picture as below.

9. Going down or up?

At first glance, this picture looks as if the guy is climbing down a steep hill. But the reality is entirely opposite. When this photo is flipped 180˚, you will notice that the guy is actually underneath a staircase in an upside down position, creating an illusion of climbing up.

10. Standing or sitting?

The guy is leaning underneath a wall with his feet on the ground…so what’s so unusual about it? When the image is rotated counter clockwise, you will see that the guy is actually sitting in a wall shelf and his feet are on the wall, creating the impression of standing.

11. The “Unsolved” Brain Teaser!

Guys, this is one image that even I was unable to figure out. I have cracked the logic of the guy in front of the bed, who is leaning onto the wall and the bed in a “push-up” position. But simply cannot figure out how the ladder is stuck on the wall and the other guy has managed to balance himself up there on that ladder. I want you all to help me figure out this one…it will be real fun!!

I think that the people in the picture are actually building the illusion. The picture is taken just like how it looks. The ladder and boys are standing normal. The bed and shelving, etc are actually affixed to the walls creating the illusion.

The boy on the ladder seems to be working on securing the books to the wall/shelving while the boy by the bed is actually pushing up the bedspread. If you look just beyond him (waist level, his left) you can see the bedspread hanging down, thanks to gravity.

You can also see a wooden pole and seemingly metal pole holding up the shelving structure on the wall.

    Just my two cents :)

I am almost positive that the last photo is “a set” and those two guys are actually standing correctly. I think that the “floor” part with the bedroom furniture is nailed to the wall. It seems like the bed sheet is hanging down like the bed is in fact, attached to the wall. Great images, makes me want to go out and try to shoot a couple!

Very cool shots! My guess on #11 is that the simplest answer here is the correct one. These are two production people in the process of creating a set that’s designed to trick the eye. In other words, this photo is correctly oriented; they’re actually attaching the furniture to the walls!

Ladder and guys are on the ground and bed, books, clothes, etc, are stucked on walls.

there is no mystery here… the people are standing on level ground.. the furniture and objects have been adhered to the wall… he’s affixing the bed spread as you can see it’s hanging behind him due to gravity. He’s not in a “push-up” position there is no strain on his elbow and there is a space between his curled hand and the “ground” which is in reality just a wall.

The ladder is a tricky one, I guess they hooked it to the wall somehow. It doesn’t appear to be all the way open since the side locks are bent. A lot of thought went into these images.

What a great way to tease our brains! Good shots and really good way of re-adjusting the directions to make the picture confusing yet more interesting!

I agree with some of the others who said the last one is a set, with the furniture fixed to the wall. There is no way the guy on the right could be in a push up position, look at his hands! If he were in a push up position, he’d be leaning all of his weight on his right wrist, his left hands seems to barely be touching the wall.

These are awesome, very fun to look at (and not to mention a good distraction from work.) :)

I think the picture is taken with the furniture already stuck to the wall. Thats how it makes sense to me

I think the photographer missed a trick with photo number 5. If the model had propped himself up on his left arm and left leg, the result would have been the most fantastic base jump photo.

I’m afraid none of the others worked for me - either the lighting or the perspective was off and they just looked like flipped pictures.

Love these visual brain teasers. I particularly like the reflection photos, but they’re all really clever and brain wrenching. I think the last image is actually in the correct position and the books that look like they are sideways are being held up by string so that gravity prevents them from falling.

Great photographs for sure and on many we are not able to find the exact position, except the one “On the Bench or the Ground?” where the hand is little stressed and its easily guessable.

I think there is nothing puzzling with 11th picture. The room is one with a high celing and the bookshelf, bed and the other furniture is placed vertically like the plastic bottle trick on 3rd picture.

I noticed the pink shirt sleeve hanging in the closet pinned and hanging down. So The two men and the ladder are in right position and the furnitures are fixed on the walls

  1. Sebastian On March 23rd, 2011 at 2:46 pm

I think the picture is turned. There are some clothes hanging in the closet which seem to be obeying regular gravity. The bedspread, which someone said is acting normally, is actually being pulled out. It is the ladder and the boys who have strung themselves up, along with the ladder, in different positions.
Let’s put it this way, if you look at the picture as is, everything is defying gravity except the ladder and the two boys…that is a lot of work. But turn the picture so tat the wooden wall becomes the wooden floor, only three things defy gravity…the two boys and the ladder.

And it would appear that I disagree with everybody. Well I’ve never seen a wooden, parquet wall with a concrete floor and another concrete wall, and a hole in the ground.

I have found the correct answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 The bed is on the ground. the boy with the bed is just sitting on the floor pushing himself up to the bed and the other boy is falling with the staircase , but hodling himself using the shelves =)
